After a stout defensive performance, the Norwalk Warriors are one win away from a state championship

Norwalk defeated Marion 10-0 in six innings Friday, punching its ticket to the 3A state championship game.

Warriors pitcher Evan Borst gave up just three hits and struck out seven, keeping Marion off-balance all game. As a team, the Indians went 3-for-19 at the plate.

Norwalk broke free in the second inning when the Warriors tallied five runs. Tyler Wegner doubled down the right field line, scoring Tanner Foltz, Ryan Wood and Cael Eck.

Wegner led Norwalk with two hits. Teammates Borst, Eck, Nate Lane, and Jake Fees also recorded a hit. Wegner and Eck each tallied three RBIs.

For Marion, Owen Puk, Jaqson Tejada and Cael Hodges were its only players to notch a hit.

Fourth-seeded Norwalk advanced at 19-5. Eighth-seeded Marion ended at 11-11.
