Davenport Assumption vs. Boone

The two-seeded Davenport Assumption Knights scored five runs in the fourth and fifth innings to defeat the seven-seeded Boone Toreadors 7-3 in a Class 3A quarterfinal Tuesday night at Principal Park.
The Knights started the scoring off with a two-run double from right fielder Brandon Schlichting in the bottom of the second inning. The Toreadors responded with a three-run double off the bat of Spencer Turner and held a 3-2 lead after three innings.
In the fourth, Assumption was able to bounce back into the lead off a wild pitch, and an RBI double from reliever Nick Gotilla. The Knights tacked on three more in the fifth on RBIs from Jayson Willers, Jeremy McIntosh and Noah Weiman.
Both starters struggled, with Boone’s Brett Price going 4.2 innings with seven runs allowed.
Assumption starter Jayson Willers went three innings, giving up three runs on five hits. Gotilla came into the game in relief for the Knights and fired four one-hit innings to record the win, moving his season line to 8-1.
The defending 3A champion Knights (32-4) move on to play Central DeWitt in the Class 3A semifinal Friday at Principal Park.
Boone ends its season at 20-13.
