Shutout leads Norwalk to state title game

After a stout defensive performance, the Warriors are one win away from a state championship

Norwalk took down Marion 10-0 in six innings Friday, punching its ticket to the 3A state championship.

Warrior pitcher Evan Borst only gave up three hits and struck out seven, keeping Marion off-balance all game. As a team, the Indians went 3-for-19 at the plate.

Norwalk broke free in the second inning when the Warriors tallied five runs. Tyler Wegner doubled down the right field line, scoring Tanner Foltz, Ryan Wood, Cael Eck.

Wegner led Norwalk with two hits Friday. Teammates Borst, Eck, Nate Lane, and Jake Fees also recorded a hit. Wegner and Eck each tallied three RBIs.

For Marion, Owen Puk, Jaqson Tejada, and Cael Hodges were its only players to notch a hit.

Norwalk will face Gilbert in the 3A state championship game. Gilbert advanced after a 14-7 win over Dallas Center-Grimes Friday.
