Julien Broderson fired a two-hitter and struck out 11 to lead top-seeded Assumption past Bondurant 5-0 Tuesday in the Class 3A quarterfinals at Principal Park. At one point Broderson retired 15 straight Blue Jays.

Assumption opened the scoring when Ryan Wohlers placed a bunt in attempt to move the runners over and a costly error by Bondurant brought home two runs to make the game 2-0. Assumption also tacked on two more runs in the inning highlighted by a Jeremy McIntosh single which made the game 4-0.

Desginated hitter Seth Adrain ripped a single up the middle in the bottom of the fourth to make the game 5-0.

Assumption (32-10) will advance to the semifinals to face the winner of Bishop Heelan and Solon. Bondurant-Farrar season will end with a final record of 17-16
